Safer, More Accessible School Entrance
Lswp Properties Ltd was appointed to remodel the main entrance to a busy primary school, improving accessibility and security for pupils, staff and visitors. Old steps and uneven paving were removed and replaced with a gently graded ramp, level thresholds and new handrails to meet current accessibility standards. We formed a new entrance lobby with secure access control, glazed screens and a clearly defined reception area so arrivals could be managed safely. Works were carefully phased around school hours, with temporary routes, clear signage and close coordination with the school leadership team to maintain safeguarding and minimise disruption.
External surfacing, drainage and line markings were upgraded to create safer drop-off and pick-up zones, along with better separation between vehicles and pedestrians. New canopies and lighting improved visibility and weather protection at the start and end of the day. All demolition arisings, including old paving, railings and doors, were segregated for recycling and removed by licensed waste carriers. The completed scheme provides a welcoming, compliant entrance that is easier to use for wheelchair users, pushchairs and visitors, while supporting the school’s wider safeguarding measures.
