Practical Two-Storey Home Extension
This project involved creating a two-storey extension to provide a larger kitchen-dining space at ground level and an additional bedroom with en-suite above. The existing house was a traditional stone property, so the new work needed to blend in while giving the family a more modern, open layout. We installed new foundations, structural steelwork and floor construction, then opened up the rear elevation to form a bright, open-plan space linking directly to the garden. Throughout the build the clients remained in the property, so access, safety and day-to-day disruption were carefully managed.
External walls were built in carefully matched stone with new windows and doors aligned to the original proportions. Internally we completed first and second fix joinery, plastering and decoration to provide a clean, ready-to-furnish finish. Services were upgraded and rerouted to suit the new layout, including improved insulation and heating controls for better efficiency. All demolition arisings and surplus materials were segregated on site, with concrete, metal and timber sent to licensed facilities for recycling. The result is a seamless extension that adds space and value while respecting the character of the original home.
